The Lucas Appeal
This is an ongoing Trial by the NHS in the Dorset area. It has reached stage two of the trial and progressing very well. On completion of this trial the NHS will be handed monies collected from community events, already collected by various Lions Clubs, towards the purchase of these Cardiopulmonary resuscitation machines (CPR) They have saved many lives to date.
One of the early units, driven by Oxygen A group of Lions and Ambulance staff after a great day at Upton House This is how the CPR Lucas unit is applied. Regular compressions instead
of by human hands that can only cope for 3 minutes at a time.
The Trial is now testing units powered by 12 Volt D.C. Vehicle and portable batteries. These can then switch to 240 VAC. Mains operation on arrival at A&E departments.
